         Certified - 1975 (35 years and counting)                   Certified - 1977 (33 years and counting)

Jeff has been active , not only responding to medical and rescue calls, but taking on the responsibility of keeping our equipment always working, updated, and seeing that MARS has whatever it needs. Jeannie Crick has been overseeing the finances for MARS by working with our billing and accounting company. This is also a difficult and often times thankless job.

Mike left his business for 30 + years to help the people in the area in need of medical assistance and never asked for anything in return. His dedication and service to our community is an example to all.

We all owe them a "Thank You" for all the years of service and making our community a safer and better place to live.

BUSINESS PARTNERS for MOVILLE AMBULANCE

Week day coverage for rural communities many time involves EMPLOYERS who allow their employees to leave work to respond to emergency calls. Without their support, EMS service may have to respond from Sioux City, a paid service. We all realize what a hardship this would place on our community. They ask nothing in return. When you see any of these business owners or managers, please thank them as well as support their business efforts.

Local businesses include:

Thompson, & Phipps, Att. @ Law, Michelle Johnson, EMT

Liteform Home Building, Chris Stamm, EMT

Woodbury Central Community School , Tom Chartier, EMT, Deron Fredrickson, Driver

Tyson Foods,  Dan Pearson, EMT

History of the WC First Responder Program

Beginning in 1990, 15 high school students met on Sunday evenings to take the First Responder Course. 9 became nationally certified. Many are now in the medical profession full time. Some  occupations include-ER Physician, MD Practitioner, Trauma Director for a Level 1 Center, Nuclear Radiology, State Trooper, Clinical Nursing, Nurse Anesthesist just to mention a few. Using this as a springboard, WC  then incorporated it into the curriculum, aligned with Western Iowa Tech for college credit as well, and have since provided experience for approximately 60 students. This course began the WC curriculum that became the first certified Vocational Health program in the state.

Students passing the National Registry exam as First Responders and volunteering with Moville Ambulance Service while in high school include: Kelly McElrath, , Christine Sweers, Josiah Sweers, Erin Maxwell.      Ass students, Michelle Bock, Erica Kilstrom and Theresa Myres responded to many calls during their high school years. Megan Chartier was an active member as an EMT-I  for several years beyond high school and through college. Presently active as members of MARS are Wendy Brosamle and Shelly Brosamle and Jon Kilstrom

A Tribute to One of our own!

Reggie - an EMT-I began his classes in 1998-99 at Moville. He became certified in May, 1999,here in Moville, and began riding with the squad. All he wanted was to drive, but, if you know Reggie, you knew he wanted to be in the back with the patient. Even in the most difficult circumstances, he would lighten things up and you would find yourself smiling (and maybe even feeling a little guilty because you were). His patients would be smiling right along with him also. His personality was sometimes the best treatment he would give. Our squad will have stories about things he did and they will always be a part of our lives, as he was. He was truly one of us!  Reggie, we will miss you!!

Reggie died as a result of injuries received in a car accident on Dec 9, 2000.  That was one of the hardest calls we ever responded to!
